Israel must stop imprisoning Palestinians without a reason

.

By Khalid Amayreh

June 29 2011 - 08:49 PM

For many years now, Israel has been dumping Palestinians behind bars, or sending them to agonize in open-ended detainment in desert detention camps, purely for political reasons.

In hundreds of cases, there is absolutely no legal ground, even according to the Israeli military laws, for the prolonged incarceration of these indisputably innocent Palestinians.

Israel often doesn't even try to justify this flagrant, vindictive and oppressive policy. It just contents itself with invoking the security mantra, utterly ignoring the most elementary considerations of equity and justice.

In countries around the world, let alone countries that consider themselves civilized and democratic, a person is arrested, charged and prosecuted. If found innocent, he is released, if not he is sentenced to jail terms or receives other forms of punishment.

In the Occupied Palestinian territories, however, detaining Palestinians at will is the backbone of the occupier's policy toward the occupied, the Palestinians. Palestinians are arrested and kept away from their families for years without justifiable reasons.

An individual's ideological preference is often a sufficient ground for administrative detention that may linger for many years. The fact that the wronged individual has done absolutely nothing wrong, has violated no laws, and committed no crimes has very little weight in the calculations of the Israeli occupation authorities. For the Israeli political-military establishment, security whims and vagaries justify anything, including inflicting gross injustice on innocent people.

This shows that the ultimate purpose behind this brazen injustice is to torment individuals and activists Israel views as non-conformist. In other words, the motivation is pure sadism on Israel's part.

The injustice meted out to the victims of Israeli detention policy is especially conspicuous with the so-called administrative detainees. These people are effectively abducted from their homes and families and dumped into crowded concentration camps in the Negev desert.

One detainee, Mustafa Shawar, from Hebron in the southern West Bank , told this writer that he was imprisoned for more than 8 years without knowing the reason.

"I appealed to the Israeli military Judge to let me know the reason or reasons behind my incarceration at the Ktza'aout detention camp. But the judge would never let me know of these reasons.

"I asked the judge how I could not repeat the crime or felony I had presumably committed if I don't know what it is. The judge simply told me he wouldn't allow me the privilege of knowing why I was in jail."

Shawar is just one example of thousands of Palestinians who are made to languish in Israeli dungeons, solitary cells and concentration camps for years without knowing the reason for their detention.

Ismael Awawdeh, 46, is a civil engineer from the small town of Dura near Hebron. He, too, had been victimized by frequent detainments, each lasting for 6 months to two years. All in all, Awawdeh has spent more than 70 months in administrative detention.  He is still languishing in jail without knowing the reason.

One of his  relatives told this writer that "it seems that the only democratic state in the Middle East decided to keep him in jail for at least six months per year."

Many of the detainees are actually prominent figures in their respective communities. They are University professors, medical doctors and outstanding religious leaders and many of them are active in charitable works and helping the poor.

In general, one exaggerates little by saying that the detainees constitute the crème de le crème of the Palestinian society.

In many instances, Israel behaves and acts very much like a criminal gang rather than a real state where the rule of the law is upheld. The Israeli treatment of elected Palestinian lawmakers perfectly fits this description.

Indeed, ever since the Palestinian general elections in 2006 which the Islamic liberation movement Hamas won to Israel's and America's chagrin (both states had okayed the organization of the elections), Israel has been ganging up on as many as 50 of these lawmakers, accusing them of supporting a terrorist organization.

Needless to say, Israel is probably the last entity under the sun which is qualified to accuse others of being terrorists.  Israel, after all is probably one of the ugliest embodiment of terrorism in the whole world.

Besides, resisting a Nazi-like foreign occupier is anything but terror. In fact, one would be fornicating with language if one called those who fight for their freedom terrorists.

In the final analysis, however, a person should never ever be imprisoned for years for his emotions, sentiments and opinions.

In Israel, rabbis and others routinely publish books and deliver lectures and give homilies stating that the lives of Muslims and Christians and all other non-Jews have no sanctity and that they can be murdered without the slightest compunctions.

And when arrests are made, the Jewish inciter in question is questioned for five minutes in a chummy-chat style before allowing him to return home with all his dignity intact.

It is a stigma of shame on the forehead of Judaism to inflict this pornographic injustice on non-Jews just because these unfortunate people happen to be weak, vulnerable and defenseless.

But Zionism is also a cancer upon the conscience of Judaism; it is a virulent philosophy and venomous ideology that has transformed Jews into tormentors, persecutors and oppressors as well as occupiers, liars and land thieves.

I have no doubt that the dehumanizing oppression meted out to the Palestinians and others by Israel will speed up the corrosion and dissolution of the Zionist entity. I am sure that the wise among Jews realize this eventuality very well.

Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine - NO GIG IN TELAVIV !

Statement from Jello Biafra

.

Wednesday June 29 2011

.

.
Dear Friends,
.
Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine are not going through with the July 2 date in Tel Aviv. This does not mean I or anyone else in the band are endorsing or joining lockstep with the boycott of all things Israel.

I am going to Israel and Palestine to check things out myself and may yet conclude that playing for people in the belly of the beast was the right thing to do in the first place.

The toll and stress on the band members and myself has been huge, both logistically and as a matter of conscience. I can't drag anyone any further into rough waters without being better prepared than some of us thought we were. A responsible leader does not go, 'Hey, check out the storm at the top of Mount Everest. Let's go up anyway just in case we don't die.' Some members are angry with me for this decision, let alone how long it took me. I don't blame them.

It would have been so easy to quietly pass on the gig out of fear someone might get upset, and no one would have been the wiser. We could have flown under the radar, left the date off our tour postings and not bothered with a statement, but how honest is that?

Our intention in going was that we thought we could do some good , speaking truth to power, fans and impressionable young minds in a way that most bands don't. What about the people on the same side of the human rights fence we are who now don't get to see us play? Should they be boycotted too? What about the even larger atrocities of the Bush regime and by extension Obama? Should we turn off our mouths of anger and boycott our own country too?

We tried again and came close to landing a Ramallah show, but again, we needed to be better prepared. How fair is it to the organizers to demand a full-on rock show on a few days' notice with a type of music they may not be familiar with? More importantly, how much are we really doing for Palestinian rights if people there don't seem interested in our kind of music at all?

I've been doing this long enough to know better than buy into hardline absolutes such as playing in Israel automatically supports apartheid or Israel's government. That threat is ridiculous. I know far more about this issue than some people think I do, and I am not a poodle for Hasbara, Peace Now, BDS or anyone else.

The first people contacting us went out of their way to be diplomatic and communicate how they felt. Then our Facebook page went from eye-opening and educational to a childish bickerfest between a handful of people, to the point where we had to try something else just to reclaim our own Facebook page.

As the gloves came off, unfortunately so did some of the masks. Calling anyone speaking up for Palestinian rights a 'terrorist' is dumb. So are the blanket condemnations of everyone who happens to be Israeli that seem to be coming from the 'drive all the Jews into the sea' crowd. I also even got an invitation from a self-proclaimed fan to 'come meet the Israeli right' and see the settlements through their eyes, complete with a wine-tasting party. Whew!

Whoever started punksagainstapartheid.com now admits it was aimed solely at one person - me. It is obvious that not everyone signing the petition has any idea who I am, or knows anything about punk, possibly the majority. The last time I looked I could only find three names of people I actually knew. Some made it clear that I will be on their bad list no matter what I do because I dared to even think of playing in Israel.

I can't back anyone whose real goal or fantasy is a country ethnically cleansed of Jews or anyone else. Where people who think for themselves or talk to the wrong person are automatically a sell out. Speaking personally, I currently favor two democratic states in the admittedly naive hope that in our lifetime they can somehow evolve into one. Where race or religion does not matter because people have learned to work with each other.

I think back to last year when JBGSM played in Serbia. The locals we spent time with were not monsters, and filled me in on how they risked their necks for years opposing and demonstrating against Milosevic and were not down with ethnic cleansing at all. But they weren't too happy about being bombed by NATO for over 2 months straight either, and showed the ruined buildings to prove it.

I also heard comments like, 'The Croats killed my grandfather in World War II. I can't forget that...' and 'There's another war coming soon. I can feel it.' The most I could do from the stage is say that I do not know what I would do if the Croats or Serbs killed my grandfather, or a suicide bomber or occupying army killed my child. But I would hope I would be one of those people who could somehow say, 'Can't we have some peace?' The audience seemed to appreciate that.

The next day I laid out my thoughts and emotions to the person giving me a ride in Slovenia. She turned ice cold and said, 'Maybe next time you should play in Bosnia.' Good point. The nightmare continues.

Rise Above,

Jello Biafra

To Jello, regarding your Tel Aviv gig..

After all, I believe you are a human being guided by some ethics and morals. So I must understand that you are not aware of the situation in Gaza. - Many  prominent artists including musicians and actors, and academic individuals and institutions worldwide have publicly manifested their support of the ongoing Cultural Boycott of Israel.

We well come you to Gaza and hope to see you and your band perform there.

with best regards

SHEIKH RAED SALAH ARRESTED - URGENT ACTION ALERT

Israeli authorities have attempted to silence Sheikh Raed Salah (center)
through physical violence, movement restrictions and jail time

Sheikh Raed Salah, one of the most prominent campaigners within Israel for Palestinian rights, has been arrested in London. The Sheikh was invited by PSC to speak at the launch of 'Building Peace and Justice in Jerusalem' Campaign in Parliament tonight, alongside MPs and other prominent speakers. He is the leader of a legitimate political party in Israel, representing Palestinians, and an outspoken champion of Jerusalem. The meeting will still go ahead.

The Sheikh entered the UK openly on 25 June and his schedule was known well in advance by UK authorities. This included a meeting in Parliament on 26 June and a public meeting the same night at Conway Hall, London, organised by PSC and MEMO on the subject of the Arab Spring and its impact on Palestine.

Despite this, the Sheikh was arrested in his hotel room last night under section 3 of the Immigration Act 1971. The Home Secretary, Teresa May, subsequently announced in the House of Commons that he was excluded from entering the UK. The government has not made clear when the ban was issued, and the Sheikh's legal team had not been contacted.

The Sheikh has appealed against the deportation in court. His team had already begun legal proceedings against Daily Telegraph and Jewish Chronicle journalists for printing false allegations about him last week.

Deporting, and subsequently banning, Sheikh Raed from the UK will be a violation of his right to free speech, his right to speak out on behalf of Palestine, and a victory for those who have spread the baseless rumours defaming his reputation.

TAKE ACTION

Protest today/Write to the Home Secretary

·  PSC is supporting a demonstration called by the Palestinian Forum of Britain TODAY from 5-6pm outside Paddington Green police station where the Sheikh is being held. This will be a silent protest in recognition of the silencing of free speech - bring Palestinian flags and gags to cover your mouth. Nearest tube: Edgware Road.
·  Call or email the Home Secretary asking her to reconsider the decision. An Israeli court cleared Sheikh Raed of charges of making anti-Semitic comments. The Sheikh has reiterated that charges were dropped because there was no evidence against him. On what basis is he being excluded from the UK?   Email: mayt@parliament.uk  T: 020 7219 5206

Arrogant Israel intimidate and threaten international press to becloud it's criminal agenda

.

Hiyam Noir

Monday June 27 2011 05:24

GAZA - The Israelis say that foreign journalists which are accompanying the Gaza-bound 15 vessel flotilla, due to set sail to Gaza seaport this week, will be banned from entering Israel for 10 years.
__________________________________________________________________________________

In an open statement, the Israel’s government press office warned international members of the press that it had ordered the Israeli army to stop the maritime convoy of human rights activists which include  media representatives, in reaching Gaza. Those who defy the ban traveling with the flotilla, would have their equipment forcefully confiscated, and face a 10-year travel ban.

The Foreign Press Association condemned the decision, saying journalists covering a legitimate news event should be allowed to do their jobs without threats and intimidation. The association is saying the move “sends a chilling message to the international media and raises serious questions about Israel’s commitment to freedom of the press .“

The FPA issued a statement of protest today against what it calls the "unprecedented" Israeli ban on print and photo reporters going into the Gaza Strip." Never before have journalists been prevented from doing their work in this way," the FPA said in the statement. "We believe that it is vital that journalists be allowed to find out for themselves what is going on in Gaza."

Of course international press also must be able to document anticipated attacks against the passengers on the 15 vessel Flotilla, as the Israeli officials now openly are threatening that the flotilla can expect to be intercepted and boarded by it's terror commandos. What horrific crimes do they want to hide this time ?

The flotilla will be carrying a cargo of humanitarian aid, and some 1500 human rights activists. The flotilla  is due to set sail from Greece tomorrow night and Thursday morning hoping to enter the waters off Gaza in the next week. But the Greece authorities under political diplomatic pressure, have refused permission for a number of vessels  to set sail towards Gaza, the refusal include the American ship, " Audacity of Hope ".

Nine Turkish activists aboard the flagship of a previous international aid flotilla, Mavi Marmara, were killed by Israelis in an completely unjustified violence in May 10 last year, when Israeli heavy armed terror commandos stormed the Gaza-bound vessel.

Today, prepared for another violent commando operation on International waters, Israeli state terrorists  have undergone months of detailed training, strategic planning how to stop the next flotilla.
.
The participants of this Humanitarian aid flotilla boldly, have refused with derision, the appeal of  the UN Secretary Ban Ki Moon , who have stated that - “such flotillas” should be discouraged, and blocked by member states, as they may only provide a focus for violence".

Hamas supervised drill simulating Israeli next terror attack against an aid flotilla to Gaza

As part of preparations towards the arrival of a Turkish flotilla next coming month, disciplined, repetitious, maneuvers has been held in Gaza sea port. Dozens of Gaza residents took part in the drill, including professional divers and medical personnel, who prepared for a number of  expected violent scenarios.

For example, the participants of the maneuver, simulated an Israeli terror attack on one ship, and several members  of Hamas special commandos  simulated the role of Israeli  terror commandos. In another scenario, members of Hamas forces simulated a rescue operation involving a person that was thrown overboard.

Farrakhan rebukes NATO, U.S. 'blood shedders' on Libya war

By Ashahed M. Muhammad -Asst. Editor

Final Call.com - Last updated: Jun 23, 2011 - 2:48:45 PM

United Nations Security Council, NATO war on Libya only leads to their doom, warns Nation of Islam minister

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan recently condemned the United Nations, U.S.-sponsored,  NATO-led bombing of the North African country of Libya and a “coalition of demons” consisting of duplicitous world governments who have joined attempts to assassinate Col. Muammar Gadhafi.

(L)Media film damage from what Libyan officials said was a NATO airstrike at a hotel, in the capital Tripoli, June 16, while what officials described as a telecommunications tower is seen at left. (R) Libyan women stand in a tent where four families set up camp after leaving Mizda, 112 miles southwest of Tripoli, Libya, March 29. _______________________________________________________________________________

“I am happy to see the press, but it's irrelevant to me if you print one word, or no words. I'm here to make a statement. And when I finish, if you wish to ask me questions, you're welcome,” Minister Farrakhan told an international press contingent gathered at the Millennium United Nations Plaza Hotel June 15.

Minister Farrakhan's words were translated into Arabic and viewed internationally live via Internet webcast in several African nations, including Libya. An overflow crowd viewed the press conference via closed circuit television in a separate room in the hotel.

During his remarks lasting a little over 45 minutes, the Minister announced to the world that God's period of grace and time for America to repent is over.

The United Nations has also embarked on a destructive course by supporting deadly U.S.and Western instigated aggression against Libya, he added:

“Why is the UN fostering, through NATO, armed rebellion to create civil war—knowing that in a civil war, the humanitarian concerns go out the window?” asked Min. Farrakhan.

“The actions of NATO, along with the United States, Canada, Qatar, and members of the Arab League engaging in this errant behavior are creating conditions that will ultimately bring about the destruction of the United Nations and all those engaged in this action.

Blinded by arrogance and the sense of power of these nations, that  they can do what they will,' they cannot fathom the consequences of their actions.

They think they are on a ‘good course' in which all of the vultures will benefit. But in the end, all of you will see that you have signed on to that which will ultimately bring about your utter destruction.”

“I've got to say it, you know, because I heard it from the mouth of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad—Europe is finished. All of you that love war, you'll be drowned in your own blood, as it is written, ‘Those of you who love to shed the blood of others, Allah will make you drunk with your own blood as with sweet wine.' Europe is headed for war as we speak—yes, England, France, Italy, Germany.

“The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told me that at the right time to tell you that Europe is the graveyard of the future and all of you that ran to Europe, to your former colonial masters, it is written that everyone will have to ‘go to their own, and find refuge under their own vine and fig tree.' And as Europe is trying push out the Africans, push out the Pakistanis, you would be wise to prepare yourself to get out of there, or die there, because the future for Europe, and America, is bleak, very, very bleak,” said Min. Farrakhan.

“Mark my words—not my words, the words of a man who was taught by God, and you will face every word that He spoke and you'll remember what you heard today. That a man—a real man of God—was in your midst! And every word that I speak you will face it.”

'In a recently released report to Congress, the White House described the action in Libya as a mission to remove Col. Gadhafi from power. Ironically, when President Obama originally spoke March 28, he said U.S. action in Libya was humanitarian in nature, adding, “broadening our mission to include regime change would be a mistake.'

Obama administration criticized

On June 16, a group of 10 bi-partisan members of Congress filed a lawsuit charging President Obama had violated the U.S. Constitution by bypassing congressional approval. Recently, Republican leader of the House of Representatives John Boehner wrote to President Obama implying that Mr. Obama had violated the 1973 War Powers Act, which obligates the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of sending the military into action, and if the forces are to remain in the theater of war for more than 60 days, the president must seek congressional approval. That 60-day period ended on May 20.

The law allows the president to extend the period for another 30 days prior to going to Congress. That extension of time ended Sunday, June 19.

The White house says U.S. participation in the NATO bombing is not actually war.

“What has Muammar Gadhafi done to deserve what this united coalition of demons is putting on him?” the Minister asked. “Check the record of America, England, France, Canada, Qatar, Italy, the Arab League, and put it up against the record of Muammar Gadhafi and the Libyan Jamahiriya!

England, France, Italy, Germany and the United States do not have a good humanitarian record. America with the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and 450 years of evil toward the Blacks, the decimation of the Indian population, and the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki! That record is clear! England, and all of your empire—you have never had humanitarian concerns for the people of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and other places that you ruled!” Min. Farrakhan said.

Minister Farrakhan reiterated his position that there are underlying strategic interests compelling Western nations to follow their deadly course of action against Libya. He detailed well-documented Western operations that assassinated and overthrew leaders resistant to global expansionist desires and installed puppet leaders in colonized lands that would be pliant to Western wishes.

“Whenever you planted leaders, there were always those who put their personal wealth and gain over the best interests of their people. Thus, whenever you installed a dictator, whether it is in the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Asia, Africa or the Middle East, you always knew that the legitimate interests of the people would cause some of the people to rise against that dictator.

So your dictator had to use methods of repression, torture and destruction of life to preserve your dictator, and to preserve your economic and strategic interests in that country. Have you changed? Are you better than your predecessors? I think not.”

The Blood shudder

America, England, France, Germany and Italy all have histories drenched in the blood of victims who supported leaders opposed to their strategic desires.

“Let's look at President Sukarno in Indonesia. He was a man who called all African and Asian nations, and nations of color together in the Bandung Conference of 1955, to discuss the wickedness of the West against the poorer and weaker nations of the Earth. How many hundreds and thousands of lives when Sukarno was overthrown in a CIA-sponsored coup? Estimates range from between 250,000 to 500,000 deaths! ... “Have you changed? You have shed the blood of all life without just cause. Are you the protector of the humanitarian rights of the Libyan people with a record like this?”

“Let's look at President (Achmed) Sukarno in Indonesia. Estimates range from between 250,000 to 500,000 deaths!”

Minister Farrakhan continued. “Assassination plots against Fidel Castro, Patrice Lumumba, Papa Doc Duvalier of Haiti, are you a ‘new and better' France, a ‘new and better' England, a ‘new and better' Germany, a ‘new and better' Italy, and a ‘new and better' America, that you could sentence another man to death with your history written in the blood of Black, Brown, Red, Yellow, and the blood of your own Caucasian people? This is why the Bible calls you the blood shudder.”

Minister Farrakhan asked, “Have you changed? You have shed the blood of all life without just cause. Are you the protector of the humanitarian rights of the Libyan people with a record like this?”

Western hypocrisy

Minister Farrakhan said the West lacks moral authority to condemn Col.Gadhafi and his leadership of Libya.

“No Libyan lives in poverty—not one! The crime rate in Libyan society is nothing in comparison to those of you who condemn him and his rule of Libya! He has built hundreds of thousands, and into the millions, of homes for his people! No Libyan is homeless! No Libyan is living under a bridge!” said Min. Farrakhan.

Europe's unemployment is at a 12-year high, unemployment in France is near 10 percent, Italy and England are near 8 percent. Spain has 21 percent unemployment, according to research cited by Min. Farrakhan. Regarding crime, Britain's violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European Union. Libya ranks 61st worldwide in incarceration rates, while America by far has the highest number of those incarcerated in the world.

“Can you lecture Muammar Gadhafi, and call him a ‘mad man,' when if the leader of a country is ‘mad,' would not that be reflected in the citizens of that country? In the crime of rape, Sweden, Britain, Belgium, Norway, Israel, Denmark, Spain, France, Russia, Canada, Japan and Germany all lead Libya! If Libya has—if he has lost the moral right to lead his people, what about you? What about homelessness? The rate in Britain is nearing eight percent, in France, they estimate that 200,000 people live on the streets. In America, there are nearly a million living under bridges,” said Min. Farrakhan.

Saving America for last, the Minister pointed out that nearly 15 million people in the U.S. are unemployed, 44 million Americans live below the poverty level, and in 2010, three million U.S. properties went into foreclosure. The ranks of Americans living in homeless shelters are growing. Fifty million Americans lack health insurance. Sadly, many of the veterans of America's misguided wars, many of whom are Black and Hispanic, return with traumatic brain injuries and emotional trauma with nearly 130,000 becoming homeless each year in the U.S., the Minister said.

As it relates to America's infrastructure, 25 percent of America's bridges are classified as structurally dangerous. Seven billion gallons of clean water leak out crumbling pipes every day, while billions of gallons of raw sewage pours into lakes and rivers. According to engineers, it will take $2.2 trillion to fix these problems with infrastructure, he added.

“Your record, America, stinks in the nostrils of God! You, who in the name of humanitarian efforts want to save the population of Libya? Save them from whom, and from what?”

Libya is not in debt while financial analysts estimate America's debt is nearly $62 trillion and growing
said Minister Farrakhan.

Citing articles from writer Gerald A. Perreira and his personal knowledge of Col. Gadhafi's accomplishments, Min. Farrakhan said the Libyan leader has always worked for what is in the best interests of the Libyan people. Instead of building opulent palaces and staging ostentatious displays of wealth like Arab leaders who generate large amounts of wealth from oil profits, Col. Gadhafi built schools, universities, hospitals and upgraded the nation's infrastructure, the Minister said.

“NATO and America are trying to re-colonize Africa through AFRICOM. My question to African leaders is: Will you allow it? Out of fear of the so-called power of the West, will you bow down and carry out their will, which is against your best interest and the interest of African people worldwide? If African leaders don't stand up today, then you will find yourself facing the wrath of the fast-awakening African people.”

Women in Libya have access to education, jobs, and many even serve in the armed forces. When Col. Gadhafi became leader, the literacy rate was at 20 percent. It now stands at 83 percent.

In Libya, all people have free access to doctors, hospitals, clinics and medicines. The life expectancy in Libya is 75 years.

The people of Libya receive food subsidies and any Libyan who wants to be a farmer is given free use of land, a house, farm equipment, livestock and seed and money from Libya's oil revenue is deposited directly into the bank accounts of the citizens of Libya, Minister Farrakhan continued.

“He spent billions on the man-made river, where he brought—his engineers brought water up out of the desert! And now pipelines run from Benghazi and Tobruk almost to the door of Tunisia!” said Min. Farrakhan.

“This is most important! Gadhafi was the first and only leader in the Arab world to formally apologize for the Arab role in the trade in captured Africans.Gadhafi acknowledged that the Black Africans were the true owners of Libya and proclaimed in his Green Book, the Black race shall prevail throughout the world.”

The Minister said it is Col. Gadhafi's move to strengthen the African nations via the United States of Africa that threatened America's and Europe's power in the region. The West's desire for control of Africa and the arrogance of the United States was demonstrated by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's words to the African Union's members June 13 in Addis  Ababa.

During her speech, she directed the 53-African countries to call for Col. Gadhafi to step down, to suspend operations of Libyan embassies in their countries, to expel pro-Gadhafi diplomats and to place their support behind the opposition.

My question to African leaders is: Will you allow it? Out of fear of the so-called power of the West, will you bow down and carry out their will, which is against your best interest and the interest of African people worldwide? If African leaders don't stand up today, then you will find yourself facing the wrath of the fast-awakening African people.

Look at the arrogance of Hillary Clinton, the secretary of state, speaking in Addis Ababa, the capital of the African Union! That's some gall: To go right to us, and tell us like children what she wants us to do! See, this is your arrogance, and your hypocrisy, that will end your world!”

A final warning

Addressing the media, the Minister asked rhetorically, “If you know this, why don't the American people know this? It's because our media is controlled—management of the news—to support policies that are wicked,” the Minister continued. “You are no longer a free press and you are doing a great disservice to the American people and I am warning you—you will pay a price for this, because the American people can only be lied to for so long.

But it is written in both the Bible and the Qur'an; in the Bible it says: ‘everything that is done in the dark will come to the light,' and in the Qur'an it says, ‘though it be the weight of an atom, hidden in a rock and buried in the earth, yet will Allah bring it forth,' so your days of lying are over! Your days of deceiving people all over the world are over! Truth will come out in the end, and it will cause a revolt in the American people against all these institutions which have misused and abused their loyalty and their love for the United States of America.”

“I'm going to say it again, loud and clear, your time to rule is up and your rule will end in war and America's power will be broken in war! These are the words of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad that I am entrusted with to speak. Now mark those words down, and watch: I've given you tomorrow's headlines today.”

President Obama is not in power, he is being directed by other forces, Minister Farrakhan said:
.
“He's not in power! He acts in power, but the powers are behind him, and you ought to know it! Any Black man that stands up for White concerns is backed by powers that you don't see—but he feels it and that's why he acts and reacts the way he does. You better wake up, Black people, and not be deceived by the fact a Black man is in the White House!” said the Minister.

“In closing, in the Book of Ezekiel, 3rd Chapter, the Son of Man is instructed to warn The Wicked. And let The Wicked know that if they don't turn from their wicked ways, they will surely die. But if the Son of Man fears The Wicked, and will not warn them, they will die in their wickedness, but their blood will be required at his hand. I am acting in that capacity as I speak,” said Min. Farrakhan.

“I warn The Wicked which I am doing today and I am telling you—if you don't turn from your wicked ways, then you still will die—but I have preserved my soul, because I've gotten your blood off my hands. I want to announce to you that the period of grace that God has given for America and this Western world to repent is over and the full chastisement of Almighty God is going to come down on all of you,” Min. Farrakhan warned.

International representative of the Nation of Islam Abdul Akbar Muhammad announced that a copy of the press conference on DVD would be delivered to the UN representatives of each African country. The Minister also made public the contents of a June 14 letter he wrote to Col. Gadhafi. Minister Farrakhan said he would send a copy of the press conference to President Obama, the members of his administration as well as members of Congress.

Breaching Gaza's Siege

Suffocating besieged Gazans’, Israel is committing slow-motion genocide. Global activists are determined to stop it and hold Israeli officials accountable for decades of crimes of war and against humanity - unspeakable atrocities financed by criminal co-conspirators in Washington.
_________________________________________________________________________

In May 2010, Israeli commandos illegally interdicted six Freedom Flotilla ships in international waters, massacring nine activists aboard the Mavi Marmara mother ship.

Nonetheless, global activists are determined to break Gaza's siege, the first step to ending it altogether and freeing nearly 1.7 million people, isolated in the world's largest open-air prison.

They're coming, Freedom Flotilla II, heading to Gaza with vitally needed humanitarian aid. Planning more high seas barbarism and piracy, Israel will again interdict. In preparation, mobilized reserve combatants held drills, focusing on riot-control measures, including brute force and "surprises" if needed.

On June 19, Israeli Admiral Eliezer Marom said:

"The Navy has prevented and will continue to prevent the arrival of the 'hate flotilla' whose only goals are to clash with (Israeli) soldiers, create a media provocation, and delegitimize the State of Israel."

Besides interdiction, imprisonment awaits participants, Israeli authorities saying blockade violators will be arrested and jailed, treated harshly, then deported. All of it, of course, is lawless, including seizure of humanitarian supplies and personal belongings like Flotilla I was pillaged, the way pirates have done it for centuries.

Israel is a rogue terror state. Activists know the risks. They're coming anyway and will keep coming, no matter what Israel plans.

A June 23 "Freedom Flotilla II - Stay Human" press release headlined, "Sailing to Gaza," saying:

Within days, 10 participating ships will sail. Two carry cargo. Hundreds of activists from 20 countries are aboard the others, including politicians, writers, religious figures, journalists, TV crews from major broadcasters, doctors, lawyers, holocaust survivors, artists, and various other distinguished and ordinary committed activists for justice.

On June 18, Turkey's IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation pulled out, yielding to government pressure at a time Israeli and Ankara officials are holding secret rapprochement talks.

Despite Israeli threats, lies, pressure, blackmail, and governments not supporting their own citizens, preparations are nearly complete to sail.

A June 24 Free Gaza.org press release headlined, "Israel proves that Flotillas work," saying:

Israel's recent authorization of token aid amounts, including construction materials for 1,200 homes and 19 truckloads of medicines, shows pressure works even though not enough. Key is stiffening it until Gazans and all Palestinians are free. It's coming because global millions support it. For now, "Freedom Flotilla 2: Stay Human" sails for Gaza next week. "(O)ur destination is freedom."

Organized by 14 national groups and international coalitions, a US Boat to Gaza is included, named "The Audacity of Hope." Participants call this "an important moment in history." They're defying Israeli US ambassador Michael Oren describing organizers as "radical anti-Israel organizations known also for anti-American activities," and Netanyahu saying the mission is a "provocation."

Earlier, he told European ambassadors in Jerusalem, "This flotilla must be stopped." Responding to it, he mounted a PR stunt to pretend Gaza's siege is eased.

Like other global activists, Americans are determined to help, despite Washington's efforts to deter them. On June 14, passengers wrote Obama, saying:

"We are writing to inform you that 50 unarmed Americans will soon be sailing....to Gaza....challeng(ing) Israel's (illegal) blockade (in) friendship (and solidarity) in support of the Palestinian people and their human rights."

Telling Gazans they're not alone, "it will call attention to the morally and legally indefensible collective punishment of a population of civilians....As US citizens, we expect our country and its leaders to help ensure the Flotilla's safe passage (and) demand that the Gaza blockade be lifted. This should begin by notifying the Israeli government in clear and certain terms that it may not physically interfere with" any participating vessel. We "expect no less from our President and your administration."

On June 24, Audacity of Hope participants "expressed profound disappointment" by the State Department's June 22 response, issuing a scandalous "travel advisory," advising Americans against coming by sea or other means. Saying previous attempts were "stopped by Israeli naval vessels and resulted in the injury, death, arrest, and deportation of US citizens," it didn't warn Israel that interdiction won't be tolerated, especially if on board activists are harmed.

Participating in the mission, University of Southern California Professor Hagit Borer said:

"Apparently, the State Department subscribes to the view that Israel's anticipated violence against unarmed protesters is an immutable act of nature. This is a remarkable attitude, coming from a government that provides the Israeli government with billions of dollars in military aid and routinely uses its veto to protect (its) government from censure of its occupation policies by the UN Security Council."

In fact, Washington officials are legally bound to protect US citizens. Nonetheless, they plan nothing to do it, effectively green-lighting Israeli commandos to lawlessly interdict, brutalize, and kill again if if they choose, perhaps with funding, weapons and munitions America supplies for that purpose.

A Final Comment
.
On June 24, Israel's UN ambassador Ron Prosor said:

"Israel is determined to stop the flotilla. Israel has the right to self-defense. The flotilla has nothing constructive. There is nothing humanitarian in the shipments," calling the mission a "provocation."

In fact, it's bringing vital humanitarian aid Israel lawlessly restricts or blocks entirely for nearly 1.7 million besieged people, ruthlessly persecuted for not being Jewish and electing the wrong government. Abhorrent by any standard, under international law it's illegal but continues because global leaders are complicit for doing nothing to stop it.

In America's Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson endorsed citizen action against destructive government policies. Flotilla participants are acting in the best tradition of his message, challenging Israeli repression for justice.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) versus Bilderberg: Where are Real Decisions Being Made?

By Eric Walberg

June 22, 2011
.
As the Western elite gathered in picturesque St Moritz to grapple with pressing world crises, the outsiders met in the bleak steppes of Central Asia.

Last week’s 10th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in the Kazakh capital Astana highlighted how the major rivals to empire, led by Russia and China -- themselves rivals, are trying to fashion an alternative to US hegemony.

The SCO is the only major international organisation that has neither the US nor any close US ally among its members, and its influence is growing across Eurasia. Leaders of member states Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan were joined by leaders from observers Iran, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Mongolia. Belarus and Sri Lanka have been admitted as dialogue partners, and prior to his arrival in Astana to attend the summit, Chinese President Hu Jintao visited Ukraine.

With a Chinese rhetorical flourish, the Astana Declaration stressed the goal of combatting the "three forces" of "terrorism, extremism, and separatism". The summit called for a "neutral" Afghanistan (read: no permanent US bases), supported by Afghan President Hamid Karzai, even as the US is actively discussing a post-2014 strategic partnership agreement with him. The prospect of permanent US military bases in Afghanistan lies at the core of current US-Pakistan tensions. India has indicated its aversion to "new cold war" tensions appearing in the region.

Russia and China fear that the US plan is to establish permanent bases in Afghanistan and to deploy components of its missile defence system. The SCO meeting supported Russian criticisms of the planned NATO missile defence shield underway in Europe . Plans by "a country or small group of countries unilaterally and without restriction to deploy an anti-missile system could undermine strategic stability and international security".

The summit also called for Afghanistan’s neighbours to play the leading role in improving security and helping to rebuild Afghanistan, rejecting a purely military solution. "It is possible that the SCO will assume responsibility for many issues in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of coalition forces in 2014," said Kazakh President Nurusultan Nazarbayev, echoing Russian President Dmitri Medvedev’s call "for more intensive and deeper cooperation between the SCO and Afghanistan".

Both Beijing and Moscow are already rebuilding their influence there, China in mining, and both countries in infrastructure projects and cooperation with Western forces to combat drug trafficking. "Afghanistan was the main reason the SCO was created 10 years ago, even before 9/11 forced the Americans to recognise the threat," says Duma deputy Sergei Markov. "The threat of radical Islamism being exported into our region is something we’re very familiar with. And a resurgence of that threat has got to be a major concern."

During the conference, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) signed an accord with the SCO to promote cooperation in fighting drug trafficking, organised crime, human trafficking and international terrorism. UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov said, "Countries such as Kazakhstan are on the frontline of the flow of Afghan heroin headed towards the West. The work in countering organised crime and drug trafficking, which I am pleased to see is increasingly taking on a cooperative approach." The most urgent issue is heroin trafficking from Afghanistan via Tajikistan which surged after the 2001 US invasion.

Security cooperation and economic development were described as the "two wheels" of the SCO by its General Secretary Zhang Deguang. China’s People’s Daily noted, "Among other concrete moves is the construction of a railway, highway and pipeline network linking landlocked Central Asia and its rich natural resources to the global economy." Currently a natural gas Pease Pipeline is under construction which could eventually link Iran, Pakistan, India and China, helping to overcome India-Pakistani animosity and integrate the entire region on the basis of mutual interests, carefully shepherded by China.

Central Asian and South Asian security are indivisible, and the proposed memberships of India and Pakistan were seriously discussed. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari vowed to work with SCO members to achieve regional peace. Zardari stated Pakistan belongs to the SCO region and is keen to cooperate with the other countries in financing joint ventures in energy, infrastructure, education, science and technology. He pointed to its newly opened port at Gwadar, which China helped fund, as a useful transport hub for the region.

The SCO has been increasing security cooperation among its members, including joint Russia-China war games, and beginning in April this year, meetings of military chiefs of the SCO countries. However, the SCO is far from being a cohesive military alliance such as NATO. The admission of Pakistan and India, long term enemies, will only complicate military cooperation, with India's patron Russia vs Pakistan's patron China.

China is clearly the power beyind the SCO, its "wheels" offering the region much more economically than Russia, but the common will of all to keep the US at bay is a balm to all. What better way to ease tensions between all these rivals than through SCO security drills enhancing the inter-operability of militaries and law-enforcement agencies? According to MK Bhadrakumar this will make "NATO (and Pax Americana) simply irrelevant to an entire landmass".

The high-flown words about peace, regional security and cooperation were for the press (and Obama). Behind closed doors, the leaders discussed their growing concerns about how the Arab spring might impact the region, particularly Central Asia’s most populous state and harshest dictatorship – Uzbekistan. The SCO summit is one of the few international events where its leader Islam Karimov is still welcomed.

Another topic at the SCO meeting was how to move towards a new world currency, one established not by world bankers at secretive Bilderberg meetings, but openly, by the major world resource and population centres as represented by the SCO. Nazarbayev said that a healthy supranational currency is needed and recommended a return to some form of gold standard. "The SCO is capable of doing this. The swap operations that we have started is the first step. This is necessary for equal cooperation within the SCO."

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad provided some colour to the otherwise muted affair with his call for the SCO to take a more active role in undermining the US-led global system of "slavers and colonisers" and replacing it with a more just order. "Which one of our countries [has played a role] in the black era of slavery, or in the destruction of hundreds of millions of human beings? I believe together we can reform the way the world is managed. We can restore the tranquility of the world."

The SCO meeting came days after the close of the Bilderberg Group’s summit in St Moritz Switzerland, which China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Fu Ying attended this year -- acknowledgment that without China’s approval, nothing is possible in the world of finance anymore. Like the SCO, its agenda reportedly also included what to do about the Arab spring, but also, in a more sinister vein, plans for internet censorhip, choosing the next IMF chief, more Euro-bailouts and higher oil prices.

China, Russia, Pakistan, India -- not to mention Iran -- the SCO brings together the most serious threats to the empire’s plans in one clutch. With the possible exception of China, Bush didn’t take any of them seriously. Obama does. But so far, the SCO has been more bark than bite. If by this time next year, India and Pakistan are admitted, and if non-dollar denominated "swaps" reach a critical mass, Bilderberg may well have to put the SCO and what to do about it at the top of its next agenda.

Israels contempt for Law of the Seas

…and EU’s contempt for safety of its citizens who bring humanitarian relief to Gaza’s women and children.
.

By Stuart Littlewood

24 June 2011

Stuart Littlewood highlights the European Union’s willful failure to protect the citizens of its member states in the face of Israel’s explicit threat to murder humanitarian workers planning to take part in the upcoming aid flotilla to Gaza.

In 2008 two humanitarian vessels got through to Gaza. In an article entitled “Keeping the sea-lane to Gaza open”, I wrote:

The success of the Free Gaza boats in breaking the siege, and their safe arrival and departure, was due to the intervention and good offices of the British Foreign Office…

Before the peace activists set sail, the British government was asked about “action to ensure the freedom boats’ safe and uninterrupted passage to Gaza considering these are international waters and Palestinian territorial waters”. Any attempt to stop the boats would surely infringe the right to freedom of movement to and from Gaza, and seriously breach the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, to which Israel is a party.

The minister in charge of Middle East affairs Kim Howells ... has now revealed that "FCO officials spoke to Israeli officials in advance of the trip and Israel allowed the boats peacefully into Gaza".

Bravo. Our chaps in London lift the phone to their chaps in Tel Aviv and – hey presto! – it’s all fixed. That’s diplomacy…
.

,
“In the UK and the EU we are losing control fast and will soon become abject Zionist stooges like America. It will soon be impossible to take back our country without organizing serious insurrection.”

Yet here we are nearly three years later going through the same sorry process while ruthless foreign interests still relentlessly expand their influence by stealth, by subversion and by intimidation to persuade the rest of the world to let them do as they please in the Middle East and beyond.

In the UK and the EU we are losing control fast and will soon become abject Zionist stooges like America. It will soon be impossible to take back our country without organizing serious insurrection.

And on the high seas Israeli warships and helicopters assault and hijack vessels of other nations with impunity in order to maintain their illegal blockade of Gaza.

The Jerusalem Post reports that the German Left Party has issued a resolution prohibiting its parliamentary representatives from taking part in the upcoming Gaza Flotilla in an attempt to buy off criticism that the party is anti-Israel and anti-Semitic. They will not participate “in Middle East conflict initiatives that call for a one-state solution for Palestine and Israel and boycotts of Israeli products, as well this year’s Gaza Flotilla”.

An expert on left-wing anti-Semitism called Alex Feuerherdt told the newspaper that “it goes without saying” that participation in the Gaza Flotilla action is a “military attack on Israel”.

Such are the lengths to which the Zionist conspiracy will go to control the thoughts and actions of ordinary, decent people.

And this is the background against which the Gaza Freedom Flotilla II sets sail. The conspirators don’t want the boats to reach Gaza because their safe arrival would drive a coach and horses through the Zionists' control-freakery. So they shriek and squawk and threaten dire consequences like last year when they assaulted the Mavi Marmara with lethal force in international waters, not caring how many they killed.

This has prompted the following statement by the flotilla organizers to the UN Human Rights Council a few days ago:

We are determined to sail to Gaza.  Our cause is just and our means are transparent.  To underline the fact that we do not present an imminent threat to Israel nor do we aim to contribute to a war effort against Israel, thus eliminating any claim by Israel to self-defense, we invite the HRC or any other UN or international agency to come on board and inspect our vessels at their point of departure, on the high seas, or on their arrival in the Gaza port. We will – and must – continue to sail until the illegal siege of Gaza is ended and Palestinians have the same human and national rights those of us sailing enjoy. (Steering Committee of the International Coalition for Gaza Freedom Flotilla II)

One of the organizers in London tells me that when the British boat's final passenger list is confirmed, the Foreign Office in London will be contacted with the details and asked to "act to ensure the safe passage of their citizens".

Did the UK have a right to mount a general naval blockade of the Republic of Ireland in response to IRA terror?

Israel is clearly acting illegally by interfering with the flotilla’s peaceful mission, so what are the chances that Britain and other countries will provide necessary protection?

A  UN fact-finding mission, dealing with the assault on the Mavi Marmara, has already declared that “no case can be made for the legality of the interception and the mission therefore finds that the interception was illegal”.

As for Israel’s naval blockade, it is “considered by the mission to constitute collective punishment of the people living in the Gaza Strip and thus to be illegal and contrary to Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention”. The action by Israel’s military in intercepting the Mavi Marmara on the high seas was "clearly unlawful" and could not be justified even under Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations [the right of self-defence].

And let’s remember that Security Council Resolution 1860 (2009) emphasizes "the need to ensure sustained and regular flow of goods and people through the Gaza crossings" and calls for "the unimpeded provision and distribution throughout Gaza of humanitarian assistance, including of food, fuel and medical treatment".

The Centre for Constitutional Rights has also  concluded that the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip is illegal under international law. It said:

Due both to the legal nature of Israel’s relationship to Gaza – that of occupier – and the impact of the blockade on the civilian population, amounting to “collective punishment”, the blockade cannot be reconciled with the principles of international law, including international humanitarian law. It is recalled that the international community, speaking through both the United Nations and individual states, has repeatedly and emphatically called for an end to the blockade of the Gaza Strip.

The flotilla did not seek to travel to Israel, let alone “attack” Israel. Furthermore, the flotilla did not constitute an act which required an “urgent” response, such that Israel had to launch a middle-of-the-night armed boarding ... Israel could also have diplomatically engaged Turkey, arranged for a third party to verify there were no weapons on board and then peacefully guided the vessel to Gaza.

“When the UK suffered continued terrorist attack from the Irish Republican Army ...  it would have been ridiculous to argue that the UK had a right to mount a general naval blockade of the Republic of Ireland.”

Craig Murray was deputy head of the teams which negotiated the UK’s maritime boundaries with France, Germany, Denmark (Faeroe Islands) and Ireland. As Head of the Maritime Section of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, he was responsible for giving political and legal clearance to Royal Navy boarding operations in the Persian Gulf following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, in enforcement of the UN authorized blockade against Iraqi weapons shipments. He is therefore an internationally recognized authority on these matters.

Referring to the participation of an American boat in Flotilla II, he says:

Right of free passage is guaranteed by the UN Convention on the Law of the Seas, to which the United States is a full party. Any incident which takes place upon a US-flagged ship on the high seas is subject to United States legal jurisdiction. A ship is entitled to look to its flag state for protection from attack on the high seas...

Israel has declared a blockade on Gaza and justified previous fatal attacks on neutral civilian vessels on the high seas in terms of enforcing that embargo, under the legal cover given by the San Remo Manual of International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea.

There are however fundamental flaws in this line of argument. It falls completely on one fact alone. San Remo only applies to blockade in times of armed conflict. Israel is not currently engaged in an armed conflict, and presumably does not wish to be. San Remo does not confer any right to impose a permanent blockade outwith times of armed conflict, and in fact specifically excludes as illegal a general blockade on an entire population.

He acknowledges that Israel suffers from sporadic terrorist attacks from Gaza but this does not come close to reaching the bar of armed conflict that would trigger the right to impose a naval blockade. When the UK suffered continued terrorist attack from the Irish Republican Army, sustaining many more deaths than anything Israel has suffered in recent years from Gaza, it would have been ridiculous to argue that the UK had a right to mount a general naval blockade of the Republic of Ireland.

So Israel doesn’t have a leg to stand on. Therefore "all good men and true" should rally to support these brave voyagers and ensure their governments back their play.

But here’s a question put by Member of the European Parliament Kyriacos Triantaphyllides and the answer from the EU Commission.

Question: One year after the military action by Israel against a convoy carrying humanitarian aid supplies to Gaza, during which at least 10 civilians were killed, another humanitarian aid flotilla to Gaza is now being organized, the principal cargo being supplies of stationery for school pupils. Is the EU and in particular the Commission aware of the new mission that is being organized and what is its position on this matter?

Given the participation of EU member state nationals and the presence of MEPs, will the EU take any measures to ensure that the personal safety of its nationals is not endangered?

Answer: After the organization of a flotilla heading to Gaza in May 2010, the Quartet, of which the EU is a member, stated that all those wishing to deliver goods to Gaza should do so through established channels, so that their cargo can be inspected and transferred via land crossings into Gaza. It also stated that there was no need for unnecessary confrontations and that all parties should act responsibly in meeting the needs of the people of Gaza.

In the same spirit, the Chair’s Conclusions of the 13 April 2011 meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) on donor coordination for Palestine reiterated a call on all international supporters to make use of the existing land crossings to channel their support to Gaza, and abstain from provocations.

The commission stands by this line. A flotilla is not the appropriate response to the humanitarian situation in Gaza. At the same time, Israel must abide by international law when dealing with a possible flotilla. The EU continues to request the lifting of the blockade on Gaza, including the naval blockade.

EU member states have the responsibility to protect their citizens abroad via their consular services. This responsibility covers assistance for their citizens who might participate in a possible flotilla. As in May-June 2010, the EU delegation in Tel Aviv stands ready to function as a hub for information and to coordinate the efforts of the consular services of EU member states.

So there your have it – the treacherous contradictions we have come to expect from this unelected body, including advice that member states have a responsibility to protect their citizens after they’ve been murdered.

The “established channel” for delivering goods to Gaza is of course the time-honoured route by sea, which is protected by maritime and international law and therefore entirely appropriate. There’s nothing “provocative” about it. The organizers have offered their cargoes for inspection and verification by a trusted third party to allay Israel’s fears about weapon supplies. They should not have to dirty their hands dealing with the belligerent regime that’s cruelly turning the screws on civilians with an illegal blockade. Anyone suggesting they must do so seeks to legitimize the blockade, which we all know to be illegal and a crime against humanity.

Members of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee include the Palestinian Authority and the government of Israel, so no wonder it bends over backwards to accommodate Israel’s criminal action.
